Men Who Cook: The Recap
For those who weren't at the Fresno Art Museum's (here's the shiny new site) Men Who Cook event, it was a good time, for sure.
For all the talk about the work, Mike (not mike oz) Oz's tacos were pretty damn good, and his execution was wonderful (just like a taco truck, warmed tortillas and all). Henry T. Perea's Dirty Rizotto was probably the best of the night, though James Hallowell's terriaki salmon came in a close second (but I love me some fish, so...).
To be fair, there were 70-plus chefs, so I didn't try everything. Sorry.
But the highlight of the night was the good natured verbal sparing match between Jarah and The Bee's Bill McEwen. I can't call a winner, but I did come away with this bit of Fresno-writer trivia:
While Mark Arax( he of LA Times and book fame) was busy hanging out with William Saroyan learning to write, Bill was in his backyard picking peaches and mowing the lawn.

Sounds great
Sounds like a great event.
yo josh...
to make things easier for you, i changed my name to just mike oz, so you don't have to do that mike (not mike oz) oz that looks so weird.
and thanks for eating my tacos and not dying.
