Hate FX has a lot of heart. Sound was a little off but they still shined. The crowd started a pit for them a few times. They are on their way.
In Vitro was a cool show. Singer was like if Rob Halfred and Freddy Mercury had a kid. In a good way, he had a good stage presense with body language that kind of made you watch him. When they came onto stage it was like Gwar started believeing in Aliens, they all sported helmets made of foil. They sold their CD's for a dollar. Very entertaining. They said they were from LA and after touring all of California have determined that any place that is not LA, is way better. They called the audience on to join them in a group F U! to LA. Needless to say, there were many middle fingers in the air.
Otep, I CALLED IT! I wrote that they may steal the show, and they did. The band, female lead singer, has a lot to say. Political and personal. The band is deep. They didn't play many of their more complex songs but they did one in particular that ended with a very long scream. The scream was so long when she started the next song her voice had to work back up to operating form. They covered a Nirvana song that the singer totally felt and it came accross. Liz is a big Nirvana fan and she was very touched at the singers skill in covering a Nirvana song with such conviction. At one point the singer called out the whole audience to participate in a mosh. She got it, the entire floor was in frenzy from wall to wall. It was NUTS!
Static X. They can be described as a semi running at top speed. A powerful machine running in fine tune, relentless and unstoppable. It's harder to follow his lyrics unless you have read them repeatedly and know the song well. This I thought might be a reason why Otep could outshine them. No bones about it though, Static X is a show complete with lights and a mosh pit from the very first song. Between songs Wayne addressed the audience. His voice seemed to be permanently raspy. A drink of water and oh, he's a normal dude. His build is remenicent of Zak Wylde in his Pride and Glory days, once was skinny but there is a big dude being formed there.
Every band gave major props saying Fresno is crazy and they were feeding off the vibe in the crowd. Bands like us crazy Fresnans. We're nonconformists like that.
Stupid moment of the night goes to a skinny kid that was all fired up and tried to talk sh!t with should/chest bump to a 300#+ behemoth of a man. It took the big guy all of 2 seconds to try and latch on and pummel the skinny dude. If it wasn't for the quick squirmy nature of the skinny kid, his night would have ended quite poorly.
Thanks again for the show ASP. This could have gone for $50.00 easy and easily rivals any of the mainstream tours going on now. In fact I'd see this show over Stone Sour any day.

Missed out on the autographs
This is going to be off the hook. I don't think Fresno knows what it's in for. Not many know Otep, a deep band lyrically and musically. Will be there soon! If everyone else is half as fired up as we are, it's gonna to be one crazy show.

They're here...
Their buses are all parked outside the ballroom if anyone wants to get an autograph or just go shoot the shit.
Tix in hand
We're there! Static X is the sh!t! But I think there may be a surprise upstage from Otep.

Thanks to Silva for pulling the strings to get this in town.
