California Feline Foundation's "Adopt-a-Shelter Cat" Open House
June is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month and the California Feline Foundation and Valley Animal Center will celebrate with an open house on Saturday, June 30th from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m. at the California Feline Foundation shelter located at 550 N. Van Ness Avenue.
Complimentary hot dogs and sodas will be provided and guests will be introduced to cats and kittens in need of a home.
According to the California Feline Foundation and Valley Animal Center's President, Christine Thornton, more litters of kittens are born in spring and summer months, creating an overabundance of homeless cats and kittens in shelters around the country.
"If you've been thinking of adding a pet to your family, now is the perfect time to give a homeless cat a second chance through adoption," said Thornton. "We have cats and kittens of all types at the shelter right now, waiting for a loving home. We encourage you to visit; you may meet your new best friend!"
Cats and kittens are available for adoption for a $75 fee, which includes spay or neuter, FIV and FeLV testing, FVRCP, FELV and Rabies vaccinations, deworming treatment, flea treatment, and microchip identification. During the open house, the shelter will offer two-for-one adoptions, and will waive the adoption fee on the second cat/kitten. Adoption counselors will be on site to help you learn more about the animals and select the best pet for your situation.
