Just Chardonnays
Appetizers during tasting
2-2 10go 2005 Chardonnay
Attractive gold and emerald sparkle. Intense fruit aroma that hints of
mature pears and pineapple. Agreeable tropical sensations in the mouth.
Domaine Lalande Chardonnay 2004
It is very possible that Yves Grassa, the proprietor of Domaine Lalande, could be considered one of France's finest white winemakers. Although this estate is located in a region known more for producing fine Armagnac brandies, Yves has been dedicated to growing "alternative" varietals and producing some of the freshest white wines to be found anywhere. Using hand-picked grapes, he has produced a Chardonnay of amazing value, with ripe, round fruit balanced with oak and mineral tones on the finish.
Denis Pommier Beauroy Petite Chablis 2004
This very small estate is located in the village of Poinchy. In 1990 Denis Pommier's grandfather passed away, but left Denis with 2.5 hectares of established vineyards in Chablis AC, Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy and Premier Cru Fourchaume. After acquiring small parcels of land from his aunt in Petit
Chablis and Chablis AC, Denis' estate now covers 10 hectares of vines.
Before 1998 all wines were vinified in enamel lined tanks, but Denis has recently begun fermenting and maturing between 25 to 40% of his premiers crus in oak barriques.
Denis Pommier Permier Cru Chablis 2004
Honeyed, savoury, with a touch of oak. Lovely, grassy fruit, creamy texture and good acidity.
Hartford Court Four Hearts Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2005
Complex aromas and flavors of white peach, citrus blossom, Asian pear and candied lemon give way to a rich and weighty mid-palate, followed by a very long, exotic spice infused finish.
Marimar Torres Acero Chardonnay 2005
The expansive fruit from the Rued clone -- floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine -- combined with tropical flavors of guava and white peach are the signature of this wine. Lemon cream and spicy notes add complexity to the mouthfeel, ending with a dry, mineral finish and mouthwatering freshness that make it an ideal companion to food.
