Some Famous users are more famous than others, it's true.
Edluv got scared and ran away from what might have been his big break. We'll give him another chance.
The lowdown: Name/age/location/occupation/how long have you been in Fresno?
My name Edward Stewart. I generally go by Ed, but write Edward on papers, signing things, etc. I think the only person that regularly calls me Edward is my mom. I'm 31 and have lived in Fresno all my life, and have lived in the Tower District since high school.
I teach part time in the general ed department at San Joaquin Valley College (ethics, English, sociology, depending on the term). I'm also adjunct at Fresno Pacific University, in its degree completion program (Biblical studies). Part of the year, I'm also an assistant track coach at Fresno Pacific, working mainly with the throw events (hammer, shot put, discus). And then I have my non-paying (or at least really low paying [job]) as an artist. Let's just say I'm doing art for the love, not the money.
How long have you been an FF user? How'd you find out about us?
I can't remember exactly how long I've been using Fresno Famous. I started reading when the motto was "Life Below Belmont," and they were still writing articles under pen names of Abby Blackstone and such. I think a friend told me about the site initially. I checked it out and was hooked. In Famous I found a new online community, and a good way to find out what was happening in Fresno.
What your favorite feature on the site?
It might sound lame, but I really like the calendar. That is, when people set up their events right so I don't have to read about the same event every day for like three weeks. I think that problem's mostly been fixed. I also like using the recent comments section to see what people are talking about. I appreciate that so much of Famous is user driven.
Where's your favorite Fresno hot spot?
I'm not sure if it's really much of a "hot spot," but I regularly frequent the Landmark. I kinda like that there's not too many people on an average night, but usually there is enough of a crowd to watch and enjoy. I love the Tower, and I love being able to walk to so many spots. But I usually stick with Landmark because it feels nice, and it's not too pretentious. I also love Tokyo Garden. Tommy and Toshi are such great guys, and I'm surprised how much they know about me. And, I know that the music is going to be good.
Trivia: Give us something we don't know.
I used to have dreadlocks a few years back. I heard about a casting call for a commercial for Jeep. They wanted a guy with dreads, so, I hopped in my Jeep, and went down to L.A. to try my luck. I figured, hey, I've got dreads and a Jeep. Why not? When I got there, I got the sign-in sheet and details and found out they wanted like a headshot and you needed to have a monologue memorized, and that sort of stuff. There were other guys waiting, and they seemed like they were really in the industry, knew what they were doing and what not. At that point, I chickened out and left, jumped back in the jeep and drove home.
Speaking of trivia, I love jeopardy and hope to be on the show. I think I could do very well. But, I've been unsuccessful so far at getting into a tryout. They only let you submit your application once a year and they draw from there.
Departing thoughts?
Here's a few: I'm really honored to be featured, so thanks. I always wanted to be one of the Famous people, and secretly hoped that Jarah would see me somewhere, be so impressed with my snazzy jacket, she would have to take my picture. That didn't work out. But this is actually cooler. Second, I'm becoming a bit of a shameless self promoter. So, feel free to visit my blog at estewartartist.blogspot.com or see my art at artbyedwardstewart.blogspot.com. Finally, I'm pretty competitive. A friend of mine's blog is currently leading mine in blog hits, and I'm hoping you'll help push me past. Just kidding. No I'm not.
