Please Boycott the Contest

Here is my emailed response to the organizers of this contest

I find the idea of this contest very, very offensive. Graphic Design is a profession that requires creative talent, technical training and significant investment in both software and computer hardware. By the very fact that you expect the participants to submit their entries using your photoshop files, implies a certain level of sophistication and investment by your participants.

Why would your organization, with its very significant financial resources and vested interest in the FRESNO BEE brand and the FRESNO FAMOUS brand, trivialize this effort? Certainly you would not run a similar contest for other professional services like accounting or legal service:

HOW TO ENTER: Download the QUICKBOOKS FILES located here and FINALIZE THE 2007 PROFIT AND LOSS, THEN PREPARE THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX DOCUMENTS.

I strongly suggest that you apologize to the creative industry in Fresno by dropping this contest immediately. Secondly, you should put out an RFP to the industry and that project should have fair and appropriate compensation.
