Teachers or Parents

I read and article a while back and have heard many people state that Fresno Unified teacher's as not being adequately trained and that Clovis Unified. I for one do not believe this, consequently most of the teachers competing for these jobs come from the same school, naming Fresno State, National, or Pacific. My point being Fresno Unifieds teachers are not the problem here. If one was ever to visit a Clovis school, one would notice one big difference, "The Parent involvment". The parents in South Fresno need to be more involve. The reason I say South is that even though it is the same school district, the northern (north of Ashlan) schools function differently from the southern schools.

You want to know what teachers put up wiyth in FUSD?
Just visit schools like Carver, Sequoia, Scandanavia, Fort Miller, McClane.
You have tons of gangsta animals that go because they have to and because their gangsta homies are there.
They don't want to be there.
They don't want to learn.
Teachers can't teach them.If they get sent to the office they get sent back to class.
There are no conceqences.
They know nothing will happen to them.
At Ainsworth the so called "mothers" send the kids to kindergarten dressed in tan pants and bulldog clothes.
At the continuation school on Chestnut near Kings Canyon the lil criminals wear their bulldog and gang clothes.
A clear viol;ation of the so called dress code.
The clothes is meant to intimidate teachers and other gangs.
But They Represent.
They cant even spell bulldogs when they carve it on the toilet seat.
BDS?
Does that mean take a dump on me and my homies?
Sit in the cafeteria at lunch and see how bad the so called students act.
Cussing, fighting stealing.
They even tag the walls at some schools inside the cafeteria during lunch.
Teachers get no support from the administrators at most Fresno Schools or from the School Board.
Sequoia and Caver currently share a principal.
Then there is the one vice principal a certain kitchen manager calls Mr Steal the Food.
It's not about the kids anymore.
It's about the adminisstration and people, freinds, family, cousins, sons getting jobs while the teachers and students are left out.
Then the teachers get the blame for everything.
How many of Herr Hansen's friends and family have jobs now?
The district is going broke but Herr Hansen got his Raise!
Now they want money to build a Jr High in West Fresno.
Just vote No!
We pay enough and the teachers and kids that want to learn get nothing!
Remember Hansen's Raise when asked to vote for money for schools.
You're right about that
Most people don't know what a teacher has to "go through" i.e. the preparation that takes place in order to teach. My parents were/are both teachers - good teachers who care about their students and what they're teaching. Parents and parent involvement are huge factors; when parents are intimately involved in their child's education, teachers, the principal and other staff often feel more accountable, etc. It's frustrating for me to hear people (not necessarily you) insist on placing blame on just one of the many factors in education success. Thanks for bringing up the issue!
Reason
The reason i posted this is that i have heard so many people in my work place and around town speak so poorly of the teachers in Fresno Unified. Most of them do not even know what a teacher goes through and has to put up with. I use to work for Fresno Unified as a TA and a school Technician and now my wife teaches in Clovis Unified so I have seen both school districts. The main difference I have seen is parent involvement. This might be due to the fact that there are more affluent people living in North Fresno and Clovis thus they have more stay at home parents. Go to walmart in clovis on a weekday and you will see lots of moms shopping.
Article
I actually read the article a ways back, I am talking about 1 1/2 to maybe 2 years ago. I think it was in the Fresno Bee, but I dont remember it could have been something I read in one of my classes at school. But I remember them saying that the North side schools usually get the older more experience teachers leaving the southern schools lacking in experience and training. And that many of the parents believe that the teachers in the school district were lacking in training. I believe there are other factors but the I believe also that good parenting plays a large role.
Not just south Fresno
We live in NW Fresno and the parent involvement at our school is also poor. I'm curious about the article you referred to, as well. There are multiple factors for success in schools: parents, teachers, district, community ...
where?
do you have a link, or can you at least tell us where you read an article about teachers in fusd being less prepared? i'd be curious to see that, mainly because i think you're right in saying that the teachers are likely coming from the same handful of schools, and get much of the same training on the job sites.
