The Famous Festival is officially over, sniff. It was an incredible three weeks- nine bands, multiple artists, a collaborative film, and an inspiring memoir made the Famous festival a smashing success. TNT may think it knows drama, but Famous has had more chaos in the past three weeks than holiday weekend Law and Order marathon. To wit: Police raids, collapsing ceilings, Greyhound Buses, emergency room visits, an appendectomy, car accidents, Hanford, theft, black eyes, and murder (of countless spiders and several cockroaches).
Special thanks to Donnell Alexander, for traveling all the way from Sacramento to read and sing for us. If you didn't pick up a copy of Ghetto Celebrity at the reading, it should be in stock at Barnes & Noble sometime this week (thanks to Mark).
Everyone knows about Fresno's black hole-like quality of sucking you back in. Donnell was the first person I've heard suggest that this sucking quality is a good thing; it has the effect of bringing back talented, creative people too. And that's probably the correct way of looking at it, since, as it turns out, black holes won't actually destroy you. Live painting by Josh Wigger and Eatcho during Donnell's reading. Ill-advised physics metaphors aside, we're grateful for all the artists who shared their work with us. Extra special thanks to Gardenside Productions, which taped and recorded all three shows. Get well soon, Brad. Finally, thanks to Reza, for hooking us up with the space.
