Fresno Famous meets Ghetto Celebrity

Famous recently spent a day with Ghetto Celebrity author Donnell Alexander. The memoir explores his relationship with his largely absent and troubled father as he makes a name for himself in indie and mainstream media. The book, which owes a lot to Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius in its form (and bravado), jumps from prose to hip-hop slang to comic book interlude (in which Donnell learns to breakdance- it's awesome). Perhaps more important than his pioneering work in hip-hop journalism or his rise from Ohio ghetto to successful author, is his stint at Fresno State. Donnell's got a fitting chapter on his years in Fresno- complete with Miss Alans references- from which he will be reading excerpts at this Sunday's Famous Festival! He hasn't been back in something like 15 years...until now. Help us give him a warm welcome this Sunday, 5pm, Army Induction Building. It's a crazy fluke we got someone this cool, so take advantage!
Also this week we review the Cobra High show and fried goodness.
