YEODO CHILDREN'S KOREAN TRADITIONAL MUSIC ORCHESTRA
THE YEODO CHILDREN'S TRADITIONAL MUSIC PERFORMANCES AT TOWER THEATRE, SATURDAY AUGUST 4th at 4 PM and 7 PM.
California Opera Association, through the support of the Fresno Arts Council and under the direction of Edna Garabedian, hosts the very special and talented group of Korean students allowed to visit California to learn, perform, share their culture, and promote Korean collaboration through music. They will play traditional Asian compositions, Korean opera works and songs. The group of 45 students is attending a specially designed youth program at the Rivergold Elementary site where they are working on musical training while also learning English. The children are overwhelmingly talented, and Saturday is a don't miss — please enjoy the run-through at 4 PM and/or attend the 7 PM performance! While here in the area, students have attended the Opera Festival, have toured Yosemite, made special appearances at schools and churches, and will be leaving us after the Opera Festival to tour the Grand Canyon and then will return to the San Francisco area before their journey home! A large undertaking that is only possible through the hospitality of our community, and the trust and belief of the parents in the integrity and goodness of the American people! As young and competitive musicians at the very top of their skills, the children came bearing gifts from their homeland and letters from the parents of gratitude and hope for the children's futures and our country's relations.
This Traditional Music Group is working to host the 2012 World Expo (the 2010 Expo is hosed by China). Korea last hosted in 1993. The World Expo is a large-scale, global, non-commercial Expo and hosting of the event must be applied for by a country and approved by the international World Expo committee. Expo aims to promote the exchange of ideas and development of the world economy, culture, science and technology, to allow exhibitors to publicize and display their achievements and improve international relationships. Accordingly, the World Expo with its 150-year history is regarded as the Olympic Games of culture, economy, science and technology. Please support these wonderful children and their goals through your attendance of Saturday's events.
