Start getting your team ready for the 9th annual Komen Fresno Race for the Cure® held Saturday, October 27th at Fresno State. The Komen Central Valley Affiliate has officially opened team registration to the largest fundraising race from LA to Sacramento. Organizers expect over 6,500 participants this year.
The Race features a men's and women's team 5K run, a co-ed 5K and 1 mile walk, a Kids for the Cure® event and a Survivor Recognition Ceremony. The Race begins at 7:30 a.m. in front of the Satellite Student Union on the east end of the campus off of Shaw and Maple avenues.
Race organizers encourage participants to register early and invite their friends, family and coworkers to join their team. Team registration closes October 15. Registration is $10 for children 12 and under and $15 for all others.
Seventy-five percent of the funds raised by Komen's Central Valley Affiliate stays in Fresno County to support local breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs. In addition to raising funds to fight breast cancer, the Komen Fresno Race for the Cure® promotes awareness, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

As you know, the Komen Race for the Cure raises funds to support local breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs in Fresno County and promotes research that will end breast cancer forever. We want everyone to be able to participate in the event, but we also want people to recognize that the Race is more than a show of support because their donation to participate meets the practical needs of breast cancer survivors in our area and does make a difference. I hope people keep this in mind.
