Fresno's strategy of letting the homeless take care of recycling isn't working out. The Bee says the City's going to miss the 2006 deadline to keep half its waste out of landfills. Perhaps State officials don't realize that landfills are a point of pride in these parts. Fresno is home to the only landfill listed on the National Historic Register. It seems to us that asking Fresnans to reduce their use of landfills is like asking the sun not to shine.
