post art hop show w/brian kenney fresno!
January 3, 2008
well how do you like this?
brian kenney fresno will be playing the post art hop show @ tokyo garden.
be there.
i'm not trying to downplay the fact that succulent and rademacher will be playing, too. i love rademacher. and was going to go anyway for them. but now, i'll get to see the man, the myth, the musician.
so excited.
will it be an epic show? i can only hope so.
POST SHOW UPDATE:
well, in my hope to be a blogger extraordinaire i charged up the batteries for my camera so i could shoot a little video to post on youtube. i had one in the camera that i thought had a little juice, and charged two others. sadly, i forgot those extras. and the first time i turned on the camera, it said to change the battery. well, that's not going to happen tonight.
succulent was up first, and then had a nice sound. i enjoyed their music, but the vocals were lost in it all. this is unfortunate because i really think that most musicians write lyrics so you can hear them. not totally gone, but could have been more clear. still, i liked their set.
next up was brian kenney fresno. i'd never heard him, but the few people i knew that had told me that it was a very different show. i should expect crowd participation. and there was tons of that. it was fun singing along with the one man show. brian kenney fresno brings a ton of energy to his set. he has people doing overheads, chanting bits, and just getting involved. except for that guy that grabbed the mic and stepped on his peddles. he needed to sit down. if you've never seen brian kenney fresno, apparently his fresno ban his been lifted. he'll be playing shows every sunday in january @ club fred's, from 5-8, so go check him out. ma dog, ma truck, madera.
finally was rademacher. now, i admit i love rademacher. they've always impressed me with their musicality, and when i've talked to mike around town he's been appreciative of the blog love and support. tonight, the played a good mix of songs from the new album, stunts, along with some older hits as well. the set tonight was nice and tight. the sound was good and we enjoyed the show, but i want to mention two things: first, eli on drums rocks. he's been a great addition to the rademacher sound and energy in my opinion. second, i want to kick off a campaign to have rademacher play the song "arguments." i've always loved that song, and they never play it anymore. play it! so, join me in demanding that they play "arguments." or don't. but you definitely have to check out rademacher before they blow up and only stop in sporadically to play fresno.
Disclosures:i got the lowdown on the show happening from rademacher via myspace.

another disclosure
i'm charging my batteries (camera + mental), and plan to resubmit this article/update the article with a summary of the show
